Help Replant Mariposa!

Let's bring the beauty and greenery back to the land that was devastated by the Detwiler fire! Ocean Art, as part of Made in Mariposa, has created handmade paper hearts combined with a mixture of California wildflower seeds. You can plant the entire heart in a pot or in the ground and watch them grow.
Each Wildflower Heart is only $5. They will be available 9/29 - 10/1 at the Ocean Art Home Studio during Sierra Art Trails and 12/9 -10 during the Ocean Art Winter Studio Show. You can also purchase them at the Mariposa Visitors Center during the Christmas sale. Call Ocean Jones at 209-742-4970 for more information.

All proceeds will be donated to the Mariposa Community Foundation for Detwiler Recovery

RAVEN SONG

This nest is composed of woven grape vines, rusted chicken wire, bark covered wire, assorted mosses, feathers, shredded poetry, unique yarns, abalone shells, silver tone and crystal beads, original calligraphic poetry, and 5 handmade and imported paper Heart eggs representing the 5 elements: earth, air, fire, water, and art.

You Can't Buy Love

This work was created with my handmade Mariposa cotton paper including shredded money; with paint splatters, my hand marbled paper butterflies and heart, imported paper, found metal hearts, and metallic ribbons. Entered in The Green Show at Sorensen Gallery in Fresno.

Corazón Oxidado

Eons of heart beats, blushing, blossoming, beating, beaten
Miles and miles and miles of joy, and heartbreak
Climbing the trail, climbing the stairs from innocence to ecstasy

From Tracy to Stockton to Hollywood to San Francisco to Berkeley
to Santa Cruz to Merced and finally Mariposa

Dreams so sweet, hope prevailed
so many promises, so many disappointments
Pain, suffering, abuse
Yet, a candle flickers in the loving darkness
Starry nights in air so pure
Sandy walks on rippling wave beaches
Dark nights in the stormy city
Meandering down country lanes
All alone in the mountain wilderness
Owls, coyotes, bluebirds, frogs, singing me to sleep
