It is with great pride that we announce the arrival of Medic 1-3, a 2024 Dodge Ram 4500 Wheeled Coach. Medic 1-3 was purchased with the assistance of an RSAF grant from the Virginia Department of Health in 2021. We extend our gratitude to Brandon Vaughan, Regional Sales Manager at Atlantic Emergency Solutions, and REV Group, Inc. in Orlando Florida. We also greatly appreciate the support from the The Town of Marion, Virginia Council and the Smyth County, Virginia Board of Supervisors. This state-of-the-art ambulance will provide services to Marion and Smyth County residents for years to come.

Transparency and Communication. It’s that simple, if our Town Council is transparent and communicated well with citizens we will be more responsive. There should be a defined protocol to give the community notification of our actions, in greater detail, without having to do endless searches. Citizens should be able to contact their representatives with ease. If we can’t notify those who request notification because of “ server issues” then we must fix the problem, our citizens deserve solutions not excuses.

Communication is the cornerstone of every government, business and organization. Yes, it’s true we cannot solve every problem for everyone. Sometimes being in Government Service means you must give citizens bad news, or the answer they did not want. It’s better to give a straight answer, an accurate answer, an answer that can be understood not just reference to a vague code. Yes, government works much differently than business and personal finance. It’s hard to understand and navigate to comply with and use, but that’s what we “elected representatives “ promised our citizens whom voted for us, with confidence we could and would represent them and their best interest.

This is a part on my platform, and yes I have a plan, a way to accomplish Transparency and Communicate better with Citizens, State Representatives, Administration and Staff. Being clear and opening clear lines of communication will be an early order of business . Then we can work together with less friction and better understanding.

Reasons for wanting to be Mayor:

I have been ask this question too many times, so I will try to answer it here, but this is such an enormous subject, excuse the parts not covered, only 24 hours in each day.

1. To be in a position to better serve our community.
2. To be in touch with all aspects of our Governance.
3. To insure our local government is equal and Fair to all citizens.
4. To insure truth, justice and compassion are ever present.
5. To help Marion to embrace technology and use data for growth.
6. To make Marion a better place to live, work and play.

There are so many other reasons for wanting this position, from insuring our infrastructure is well maintained, Police, Fire and Rescue are top-notch, our Staff and Administration are treated fairly and well compensated, our Public Works have the tools and personnel to get the job done, our town has events and programs available to citizens of all ages. To see that tourism is promoted and Marion is a desirable destination for people to visit. To work with our neighboring towns and counties to promote Southwest Virginia. To insure our transportation systems, bridges, roadways and signals are safe and working properly. To safeguard our citizens with protection and plans in place for emergency situations . To provide the infrastructure needed for developing business, education and domestic living. To assure the town we leave to our children is a better Marion and a place worth calling home.

This is just a small view into a Mayors responsibilities, there is so much more, and even more after that. Being Mayor is not a step anyone should take lightly. It's a massive responsibility, and not just to the voters and citizens trusting their governance but very lives and livelihood to that office. It's something I am willing to do, and confident I can do it well.

Okay, We can’t believe anything we see in a video because of AI, we certainly can’t believe any recordings, ( that technology has been around awhile) we can’t believe what we see in writing, ( regardless of source, all media has proven this to us) , we shouldn’t believe what we hear ( gossip is unreliable and people aren’t above starting a lie to discredit their enemies) , I don’t want to believe the price of things, (is it really 45.00 for one T-bone Steak? ) So what can we believe?

We can believe a plant comes from a seed, ( you plant corn, corn grows) We can believe time, ( we all have 24 hours each day) We can believe the results of our labor, ( I mow the grass, it doesn’t stay mowed, but I know I did it) We can believe our Parents, ( of course, they never wished us any harm), We can believe our dogs love us, ( because you can feel it) and to that point we can believe our feelings, because whatever else you May , or May Not, be able to believe in, however it makes you feel, that’s how you feel, that’s real. ( regardless of if what made you feel this way is true or false)

Lastly, and most importantly, you can believe that how you make people feel is real, people have feelings, they get hurt, they also respond to love, and you, in your 24 hours each day can plant seeds of Love, or Hate. Believe me, you can choose Live or Hate. Please, choose Love.
