What is there about me and why am I selling on Etsy?

The truth: I love making jewelry and have filled the house with things I have created. I’m 79 years old and don’t know how much time I have left – plus I wonder what will become of all the beautiful things I’ve made. I think they’re beautiful but they need to find a home. I started making jewelry in 1996 when I retired from engineering and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. I had a double-booth in the Santa Fe Flea Market and had so much fun making jewelry and acquiring things to sell. By that time, I had made quite a bit of jewelry and loved to see people’s reactions when they admired my work. Over a few years, the Santa Fe Flea Market became the Tesuque Flea Market (the market was on land belonging to the Tesuque Indian Tribe). In 2003, the Tribe closed the market and sold the top layer of their sacred land to the New Mexico Highway Department as landfill. I was fortunate that I still had my pension to live on, but many of the vendors had to move to different sites all over to make a living. Nothing was the same after that. In 2004, I moved to Austin, TX where my son lived and continued to make more jewelry. I tried several venues to sell my creations, to no avail.
In 2006, I moved to Colorado Springs to be with my love, now my husband, John. John and I started making soap and lotions and potions and selling them at the Monument, CO market and church craft sales. John even stayed with me after I ordered 2 tons of soap base – on sale, of course! In 2010, we moved to Mansfield, TX to be near John’s family (three little granddaughters mainly). After the move, our house was big enough for me to have a “jewelry room” all to my self and I started making jewelry again! In 2011, I had a stroke, so I don’t get out that much any more, but I could still make jewelry – hence the huge inventory!
I had tried Etsy in 2007 when we were in Colorado Springs, but only tried selling soap and some small jewelry pieces. Then I experimented with Ruby Lane but really only succeeded in selling quite a few serious jewelry pieces that I had bought when I lived in San Francisco. I soon ran out of those. So now I’m back with Etsy for real. I’m hoping that more people with see and admire my creations and even buy them. My son and John’s four daughters aren’t the least bit interested, so here I am. I would love to find happy homes for all of them. They need to be loved as I love them – otherwise, they’ll be orphans after I go.
