THE STORY BEHIND CRUSHED ICE

Every stone begins by hand.

The Crushed Ice bracelet was never meant to look mass-produced or perfectly uniform. Each stone is individually cut by hand, giving it its own character, its own irregularity, and its own way of catching the light.

There is a story behind it that I will never forget.

When the stone cutter—an expert who had been cutting stones for decades—first saw my sketch, he stopped.

He looked at it again, convinced something must be wrong.

So I went to see him, sat beside him and explained exactly what I wanted.

He looked at me and said:

“You must be crazy. A bracelet with stones this size?”

And that was the moment I knew I was right.

Because if someone who had spent decades cutting stones had never seen anything quite like it, then I was creating exactly what I wanted to create: something that wasn’t already out there.

That is what Mr O Atelier by Argentinian designer Rodrigo Otazu has always been about.

This piece feels deeply personal because it combines three symbols that have followed you throughout your career: the pearl, the horse, and the medallion. It doesn’t chase trends—it tells a story about identity.

The pearls represent timeless elegance. They are not simply decorative; they speak of femininity, wisdom, and the beauty that only time can create. Their soft luminosity contrasts with the strength of the central horse, creating a dialogue between grace and power.

There are places that change your life, and then there are places that quietly restore your soul.

Brazil became that place for me.

After losing my mother, I found myself searching—not only for inspiration, but for meaning. I arrived with a heart carrying grief, and slowly this extraordinary country gave me something I never expected: peace.

Standing beneath the open arms of Christ the Redeemer, I understood that faith is not always found in words. Sometimes it is found in light, in silence, in people, in nature, and in the courage to begin again.

Brazil reminded me why I create.

Every jewel I design carries a fragment of that journey—a celebration of love over loss, beauty over fear, and hope over despair. Creativity returned to me because my soul finally remembered how to breathe again.

Mr O Atelier was never created simply to make jewelry. It exists to transform emotion into something eternal—pieces that carry memories, faith, and the invisible energy that connects us all.

For that, I will always be grateful.
