Fun Fact: There was a short period of time in the 1930's where sequins were made of gelatin! In concept, it sounded like a good idea as gelatin was easy to cut sequins shapes into, yet it was quickly discovered that the material melted in heat and dissolved in water, making it very difficult to actually go on with using it in production. Share that at your Thanksgiving dinner!

The Holidays are upon us! We're starting off the celebration of this Holiday season by featuring some of our beautiful Jacquards from Charming!

The final stop was Silver Creek Gin, where the cotton is cleaned of burs, dirt, and other plant material that may be remaining from the fields. After it is cleaned, the fiber is separated from the seed and packaged in bales like you see in the picture with our BFF team. It is these bales that mills and spinners buy to produce yarns and create fabrics with!

This past week, we went on a cotton farm tour presented by our friends at the Sustainable Cotton Project! SCP is a non-profit organization based in central California and focused on supporting the small, family farms while reducing environmental impact. The Pima cotton shown in this picture was grown and harvested by Pikalok Farms in the California Central Valley!
