Joe is a Gemologist that has trained extensively with the GIA (Gemological Institute of America). Joe grew up in the jewelry business, working summers and holidays during school at the family store. He graduated from The School of Visual Arts in New York, and worked for a number of years in the film and television business as an Editor, Colorist and Broadcast Engineer. Joe’s creative talent and deep understanding of technology has made him unique and distinctly invaluable to clients around the world. Since 2010, Joe has been a full-time Bench Jeweler, Designer and current owner of Longmont Jewelers at The Gold Market with his wife, Rose. He is a dedicated craftsman with high attention to detail, and as a Custom Designer, he continually creates a fresh look with the precious metals and stones he works with. Rose also grew up around jewelry. Her family is from Burma and many of her relatives were gemologists that worked closely with Burmese rubies, sapphires, jade etc. Rose got her degree in Economics from Virginia Tech, and worked in International trade (Import/Export) after college. She later moved to California and transferred her skills to Producing, Development and Production Management for major studios and commercial production companies in Hollywood. She met Joe while filming a documentary in Los Angeles, and they married a year later. After starting a family, Rose & Joe decided to leave the film industry and move to Longmont to be closer to Joe's family, and to help with the family jewelry store. They soon fell in love with the jewelry business and the beautiful state of Colorado. They thoroughly enjoy the outdoors and exploring the extensive breweries, distilleries and eateries around Longmont. Rose & Joe stay connected with the community and businesses through the Longmont Chamber, BNI and a number of local non-profit charities. Their son, Joseph is also a budding jewelry designer. Joe Sr. (Joe's dad) took ownership of The Gold Market Jewelers back in the early 70’s in Dearborn, Michigan where he focused on design, repair and appraisals for all types of jewelry. He is a Gemologist, Jewelry Designer and Professional Diamond Setter. He was born in Lebanon, and came to the U.S. in 1957 to attend Purdue University and University of Texas where he received his Bachelors degree in Physics and Math. Early in his career, Joe worked for Taylor Instruments and Aramco as Process Control Engineer. He specialized in projects dealing with temperature pressure, flow levels, turbines, controlled automation of curing tires and pasteurizing milk. Joe was also part of the team that received Neil Armstrong’s signal from the moon. A graduate from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Joe excels in diamond grading, evaluation of precious stones, as well as custom jewelry work, clock repair and watch repair. In 2009, Joe relocated The Gold Market Jewelers to Longmont, Colorado in order to be near to his children and many grandchildren. Joe created a family atmosphere in his store, and loves working closely with his wife Kathleen, his son, Joe and his daughter-in-law, Rose.
