What I make is not decoration. It’s a reminder you can’t take off and lose. You set an intention, you assign it to a piece, and then it does the quiet work of pulling you back to yourself a hundred times a day. At the sink. In a hard meeting. Mid-doom-scroll. That little glint on your hand going, hey, remember what you’re calling in. That’s the whole job.

New moon (in Cancer) tonight, which is the universe’s clean slate. Set an intention. Then (and this is the part I stole from years of coaching) give it somewhere to live. Just wrapped up one of my Term 3 projects in the Jessica Rose | Jewellers Academy Diploma in Fine Jewelry. Y’all. This work has been HARD but we’re winding down our final term, and I’m super proud of how much I’ve grown as a jeweler. This project was filigree (obvi), and I thought at first it would be to “fussy” for my taste. And ya, the end result is a bit of departure from my typical design aesthetic, but I really, really love this technique, and you’ll be seeing more of it! Sterling silver and 14k gold with a tiny champagne diamond. 17” long. Wouldn’t this make the most stunning bridal necklace?

Confession time, since Mercury retrograde is about honesty. The things I find packed under people’s stones at the bench: lotion, sunscreen, dog hair, and once, unmistakably, sourdough starter. She made the bread with her rings on. 😱 Respect, but also no. That gunk doesn’t just look gross, it blocks light from reaching the stone, so your diamond literally can’t sparkle. And even worse, it will push your stones out of their settings. Take it off for the messy stuff and give it a gentle soak in a non-toxic jewelry cleaner or Dawn dish soap.

What’s your worst ‘I wore my rings doing THAT’ story? I need them.

Working on a new cluster ring with tiny white topaz accents. First major project in gold, and if I had known gold was so much easier to work with, maybe I wouldn’t have been so scared to drop $4k per ounce on it. 😂

Practicing filigree today, something new for me. At first I thought it was too fussy, but I’m starting to love it and have all sorts of ideas on what to make with it. Which design do you like best?
