There is an extraordinary lifting of the spirit that comes from the simple act of wearing real gemstones. I am passionate about including high quality gemstones in my designs. Besides their mystical qualities – gemstones are simply beautiful pieces of nature. I love to hold them in my hand, I love the way they warm to the body's touch. Words are rather inadequate when it comes to explaining how gemstones make you feel but when worn there is a discernible difference in attitude.

Zia features a sterling silver pendant etched with the Zia sun symbol. The symbol originates with the Indians of Zia Pueblo in New Mexico. Four is a sacred number which symbolizes the Circle of Life: four winds, four seasons, four directions, and four sacred obligations. Those obligations are a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit, and a devotion to the welfare of others. The pendant hangs from a rustic bronze handcrafted finding. The chain is made of tiny glass silver beads that reflect the exact colors that the patina of the pendant is imbued with. The clasp is handcrafted bronze. Tahiti is made of tiny glass beads whose color scheme evokes the beach. The bead strands are crimped with square gold filled crimps and attached to a brass finding that is attached to a brass bead and chain. Nothing announces the rebirth of nature after a long winter like the elegant fiddlehead fern uncurling itself in the forest. Fiddlehead features a sterling silver, etched pendant on a crystal rosary chain with a handcrafted clasp. All the sterling silver in this piece has been darkened with a patina. Simple in appearance, Fiddlehead came to life through a rather complicated process.

First I cut a piece of silver sheet to size then I prepare it for an image. After drawing the image with a special pen (the resist) formulated to withstand electrical currents, the piece is submerged in a solution with a sterling cathode and electricity is run through the solution to etch away everything that is not protected by the resist. In this manner I can turn any design into a piece of jewelry! If you are familiar with my work you have seen etched copper and bronze pieces - these are created with solutions made of acids - not through an electrical process as with silver.
