You’re invited to join the City of Kokomo in celebrating one of our greatest athletes — Tom Underwood, Kokomo native and former Major League Baseball pitcher.

Tom was named Howard County’s “Greatest Athlete of the 20th Century” by the Kokomo Tribune and, along with his brother Pat Underwood, was part of the inaugural class of the Howard County Sports Hall of Fame.


Where: Highland Park – Intersection of W. Defenbaugh St. & Stadium Dr.

When: Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

The 100 block of north Main Street looking south from Walnut circa 1980. Today, Walnut is no longer one-way street and stop lights around the square no longer exist. The parking meters and phone booth are history too. Of the businesses shown, only Palmer’s Jewelry remains. However, the two-hour time limit for parking during the day has not changed.
