Just finished up an angle drive replacement upgrade in a 2015 Slingshot using a brand new 2022 angle drive, belt, drive pulley, and driveshaft. Much more beefy cast angle drive for a rental slingshot that a rental customer broke the nose on the original angle drive. Installed the 2022 drive as so far no one has reported breaking one, so should be a better deal strength wise for this abused rental.
This new drive with belt adjusted at 3/4 " slack, is extremely quiet.
Now for the even better news and reason to upgrade. The new ratio really makes the ecotec better use the torque available, and acceleration increase on this pure stock slingshot is amazing and a blast to drive. 4th and 5th gear see much better acceleration and bumps rpm up higher. I plan to install one in my 2018 once I get caught up on work and with my tuned ecm, cai, and WP cat delete duals with 1320 header, with pedalmax, it should be a real screamer.
I played around some and found with the new ratio, you can dump the clutch at idle and it takes off without stalling, so for folks with poor clutch start abilities, especially renters, this should save the clutch and reduce or eliminate poor starts. For 2019 and back, I think with the new ratio, it might work better with the older pulley and belt instead of the new smaller drive pulley and shorter belt and keep the rpm per mph a little lower, but still provide better torque and acceleration. I will test my theory when I install mine to see which is the best for everyday driving. If you want drag race improvement, use the smaller pulley and belt.
