WHAT IF IT AIN’T ABOUT YOU?

In the beginning, it was about providing for my family.

We lived in a 625-square-foot house we couldn't afford. My boss let us live there for free. I had a wife, a son and a newborn daughter depending on me.

There were times an order would come through at exactly the right moment. The customer on the other side of that order didn't know an electric bill needed to be paid.

We needed groceries.
An order came in.

The customer on the other end had no idea what that order meant to us.

Sometimes the timing was so perfect, it almost felt like charity.

Then Slingin Shanks grew.

Buried in orders. I had overpromised. Twenty-hour days became normal, and getting through the backlog became almost a game.

Then came the One Hour Spur Build.
We were going to be YouTube famous.

That chapter wasn't about proving that craftsmanship didn't matter.

It was about challenging what craftsmanship could become.

Could we build better?
Could we become more efficient?
Could we use innovation without abandoning tradition?

Could we do more with less?

Today, that's become American Craftsmanship.

Tradition + Innovation.

Building something in our shop that respects where this industry came from without being afraid of where it can go.

But I've been thinking about something...

Maybe none of those chapters were ever really about me.

The customer who placed that order in 2013 wasn't trying to pay my electric bill.

The cowboy waiting on his spurs during those 20-hour days didn't care how tired I was.

The maker watching that one-hour build wasn't watching to validate me.

They all had their own reason.

A bull to get on.

A horse to ride.

A family to provide for.

A dream they were chasing.

Maybe Slingin Shanks has never been about the guy standing at the workbench.

Maybe it's about the person we're building for.

What if it ain't about you?

Maybe that's the question we should have been asking all along.

That's American Craftsmanship.

13 Years in the Making!!!

We've been working extremely hard on systems, production and turn around time. And we have gotten our order books in the best shape since the inception of Slingin Shanks!

Each week we will announce a run of 5 pairs that if ordered, will be shipped by Saturday of that week

Looking back at a time where we were almost a year out on basic orders, we are finally here.
