This afternoon we welcomed Loess Hills Lavender Farm to the Lied Irwin Public Library for a fascinating program all about lavender. Guests learned about the history of the lavender farm, how it is grown, and the many ways it can be used.

Everyone received a lavender sachet to take home and enjoy, and attendees had the opportunity to browse a variety of lavender products available for purchase.

After the presentation, we wrapped up the afternoon with plant bingo, and everyone went home a winner with at least one plant to add to their garden or in their home.

This was a fantastic way to begin our Summer Reading Program weekend and perfectly tied into this year's theme, Plant a Seed, Read. Thank you to everyone who joined us for an afternoon of learning, laughter, and lavender.

Holy cow, what a way to kick off our Summer Reading Program!

The library was absolutely buttered up with visitors last night as a full house gathered for our Butter Together program. We welcomed participants of all ages who were ready to churn their creativity into something special.

We were delighted to host Sarah Pratt, who has been the lead butter sculptor for the Iowa State Fair for the past 20 years. Sarah shared fascinating stories about the history of butter sculpting and the artists who have helped shape one of Iowa's most beloved traditions. Her presentation was udderly captivating and gave everyone a new appreciation for the skill behind those famous fair sculptures.

Afterward, attendees got the chance to try their own hand at butter sculpting. Creative creations included a troll, a tree, a couch, a coffee shop and bookstore, an ear of corn, a bird's nest complete with eggs, Bluey, a rabbit, and many more imaginative works of art. It was impossible not to be amoosed by the talent in the room!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this dairy fun evening.
