From the moment Golden Eagle Precious Metals Exchange began, Bob Shields was the voice for us on the radio and on television. We were excited at the prospects of Bob representing us and our services, not just because of his local celebrity status, but because of his unquestioned integrity. It would bring a smile to our faces every time we heard a client say they chose us after hearing Bob telling everyone about the work that we did. That meant a lot to us.
After hearing about his struggles, we like so many others, kept Bob and his family in our thoughts and prayers on a daily basis. Bob passed away Friday. While there is no one that could feel his loss more than his family, it's safe to say that the people of the Midlands also share in the loss of someone who was so very special to us. For over 30 years, Bob filled us in with Gamecock and Tiger sports, but his true passion was high school sports.
As a former football player myself, if Bob was at your game, it was a HUGE deal!
So, it was easy to make sure that we had our 5 or so minutes with him, every day, while he gave us the best local sports reports. After leaving television, Bob joined 107.5 The Game and every morning, listening to the Early Game with Benji Norton, Bob Shields and Tommy Moody became the favorite station to listen to on the way to work. The blend of humor and comradery that they shared with us was amazing and special and wasn't to be missed.
We, like so many of those in the area, share in this loss. Bob was so very special to us over the years and we grieve for the loss of this amazing man.
We would like to ask that you make a donation in his favorite charity, the St Jacob's Lutheran Women and also to St. Jacob's Lutheran Men's groups in his hometown of Chapin.
Bob, we will miss you and want to thank you again for being a part of the Golden Eagle Precious Metals Exchange family. It was truly an honor to work with you, and to call you a friend.
