Bowers Jewelers

Bowers Jewelers Locally owned and operated. Selling and repairing watches eventually grew into jewelry sales and repairs.

How it all began:

As a young family man, Ralph Bowers was an employee of the Erie Railroad when he was stricken with polio in 1952 at age 29. Overcoming this obstacle, Ralph completed a watchmaker’s course and set up a business in Pete McKean’s Drug Store a few doors away from the Erie tracks. In 1957, the operation moved into a bigger building at 1 Parkmoor Drive, our current location. Ralph’s t

wo sons, Gene and Bob joined the business in the early 1970’s. We are now in our 3rd generation of family in the business with Gene and his wife Susie, their daughter Jolene, and Jolene’s husband Rob. We are a GIA trained staff with on-site repair technicians and quality service. With over 50 years of experience in Huntington, we are your trusted family jeweler.

Tarnished doesn’t mean ruined. ✨

Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time, especially when it sits unworn, but the right cleaner can bring it right back.

We use Hagerty silver cleaner for a quick refresh at home, followed by a polishing cloth for that final shine.

One important note: not every silver piece should be cleaned the same way. Gemstones, plating and intentionally oxidized finishes may need different care.

Not sure what your piece needs? Bring it in and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Your engagement ring is made to be worn, not to survive everything. 💍

Fine jewelry is incredibly durable, but it isn’t indestructible. The little habits you don’t think twice about can slowly wear down your ring over time.

✨ Swipe through to see where your engagement ring doesn’t belong:
• The pool
• The beach
• While applying lotion or sunscreen
• At the gym
• During sports

Here’s why…

💦 Chlorine can weaken the alloys mixed with gold, making prongs more brittle over time.

🏖️ Sand is surprisingly abrasive and can scratch both your metal and certain gemstones.

🧴 Lotions and sunscreen leave residue behind that dulls your diamond’s sparkle and builds up underneath your setting.

🏋️ Weights and gym equipment can bend rings, loosen stones, or leave deep dents in the metal.

🥎 Sports and impact are one of the biggest causes of chipped stones, broken prongs, and lost diamonds.

The good news? Most of this damage is preventable.

Your ring tells your love story. Treat it like the heirloom it’s meant to become. ❤️

Stop in anytime for a complimentary inspection and professional cleaning. We’ll check your prongs, look for wear, and have it sparkling again before you leave.

Most people think a professional jewelry cleaning is all about the sparkle. For us, the sparkle is a bonus. ✨

Every piece that comes into Bowers Jewelers is carefully inspected before it’s cleaned. We check for loose or chipped stones, worn prongs, thinning gold, and other signs of wear that could lead to bigger problems if left unnoticed.

Then we professionally clean, rinse, and steam your jewelry to bring back its brilliance.

A clean ring is beautiful. A well-maintained ring can last for generations. 💍

📍Stop in anytime for a complimentary jewelry inspection and cleaning.

Part 2 is coming next, where we’ll show you our favorite way to safely clean your fine jewelry at home.
