Drive down the tree lined streets of Houston's Village area and pull up to a charming brick house at 2511 Sunset Blvd. Step inside and you soon realize this is no ordinary home; it is the showcase for beautiful, custom-crafted designs from a family of experienced, caring jewelers. Since 1972, Dee Stodghill, retired, and his son Kip, built their business based on the foundation of personal service.
Kip is professionally trained to give expert gemology and design advice. His jewelry designs are imaginative and diverse, ranging from bold and modern to antique reproductions. The Galaxie Jewelers is known for innovative, creative designs and carefully chosen, quality loose diamonds, pearls and colored gemstones from around the world. However, they are equally well known for jewelry and watch repair, restoration and turning "never-worn-anymore jewelry" into newly cherished pieces. Kip, along with his contracted production staff, whom have extensive training in jewelry making, use the CADCAM & "lost wax" process of casting for their jewelry designs. The fabrication technique is used when called for. Platinum, 18 karat, 14 karat gold, and sterling silver are the primary metals used in their design work. The majority of the repair work is completed on the premises. "Our customers’ satisfaction is our number one goal," says Kip. This philosophy has earned the company a loyal following who visit The Galaxie Jewelers for everything from having their rings cleaned and checked any time, to selecting a one-of-a-kind piece to mark a momentous occasion or repairing that loved piece that shows the wear & tear that happens when worn regularly. The company is now working with second and third generations of their original customers. The Galaxie Jewelers is a member of Texas Jewelers Association & Jewelers of America.
