This morning, Ron Smith - one of my most important mentors and also a dear friend - passed away peacefully. Over the past nine years, he inspired me, educated me, and shaped my work in ways I will always carry with me. He didn't just teach me technical skills; Everytime we met or spoke on the phone, he reminded me to protect my reputation like gold. He was truly a man of honor, and he lived by that principal his entire life.

The last time I spoke with him was nine days ago, right before the nationwide winter storm. His voice sounded strong, so this came as a complete shock. Today, the entire engraving community is mourning his loss.
