Our designer, Deborah, started her love of jewelry over 30 years ago when she inherited her family's jewelry. Deborah's quest was to return this beautiful jewelry to its original grandeur and the journey started. Because of Deborah's love of jewelry, DMK Artisan Jewelry began. e with the ancient Japanese Art of Kumihimo. Kumihimo means "gathered threads" and is a ancient Japanese form of braiding in which braids are made by interlacing different types of fibers. Since then, Deborah has been studying the teachings of Jacqui Carey, Rodrick Owen, and Makiko Tada and several pieces of her jewelry are inspired by them. Deborah's heart is reflected in each piece she creates and no two pieces are the same. She believes that each piece of DMK jewelry that is worn, is to be the personal signature of its owner.

The beadweaving world has been rocked today by the news that Bead and Button magazine, an industry leader, is going to stop publishing and will be ending their popular annual bead show. Before they close up I highly recommend you pick up a copy of this 2016 special that features nothing but kumihimo projects. Disclaimer: I have a project featured in the magazine but I don't receive any money from current sales. However, this magazine has so much good information it really should be in every kumihimo artist's library.
