Would you wear a white dress to the biggest party of your life?! Wearing white ain’t easy! Especially if you’re awkward and accident prone like me! Throw in champagne, food, hugs, dancing, emotions and ... one of the biggest decisions of your entire life ... keeping a wedding dress white is just another unrealistic expectation for women! Wear white to the biggest party of your life and see how the dress looks at the end of the night! Y’all, it’s going to get messy! At the very least the hemline of every wedding gown gets filthy! Sweat, makeup, grass, food and drink stains are super common too! Celebrating your happily ever after can be a dirty job! Much like a face full of wrinkles is a sign of a life lived smiling in the sunshine I believe a dirty white dress is a sign of a really great wedding! If you have a dirty wedding dress in need of cleaning I would be so happy to help you get it cleaned and even preserved if you’d like! Among the wild things at Tupper Lake’s The Wild Center there is a lovely conscious fashion exhibit in the coolest laboratory room. The environment pays the price for fast fashion and this is a great reminder of how we can slow down, use less, makes things last longer, support those who make garments and find sustainable alternatives. Themis and Thread was born of a desire to offer folks safer solutions and I’m so passionate about the environmental expense we pass on. This exhibit was a breath of fresh air in a whole world of gentle and not so gentle winds of awareness 🙏

Out of the office for a midseason wellness week. No sewing, no fittings, no calls. I’ve been working at an unhealthy clip and am thrilled to clock out, get my (mental) health in check and tune into the rhythm of nature. See ya in a week 💋

I’ve been working very hard chipping away at the gown tailoring, vintage redesigning and custom creations projects hanging on the rack next to me!
