A college tour in Washington DC, a surprise night watching Messi play live, and the reunion I look forward to all year with a friend I have known for over twenty years, back when we were both young jewelry designers in corporate New York City. We built our careers side by side long before we were mothers, and this year we sat together as older, wiser women, realizing that accomplishment is not always a box you check. Sometimes it is simply the years, the growth, and every sacrifice made for the people you love. Through all of it, I never stopped reaching for my hoops, because some things you never outgrow. I started this business in 2017. In 2021 After Covid I put it on hold for personal reasons. That was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made and also the most necessary one. My family needed me more than my business did.
Two years ago I stepped back in. I had missed it every single day I was away. But this time I came back with my eyes wide open and everything my first years as an entrepreneur taught me.
So I am doing it differently now. Slower. With intention. Watering it, tending to it, cherishing it, giving it a piece of me every day. Planting, watering, sun, the vitamins, the whole quiet routine that nobody sees but that decides whether anything blooms at all.
I planted these hydrangeas around the same time I came back. For most of that first year they stayed small. Not struggling. Just rooting.
This morning I walked out with the shears and amazed to see the bloom!
There is still so much ahead. But two years of slow nurture looks like this, personally and professionally, and I would not trade the pace for anything.
