Our Story
In 1973, Philippe Medawar immigrated to the U.S. from war-torn Lebanon. Arguably one of the most beautiful countries in the world, Beirut was once called “The Paris of the Middle East.” Intermittent unrest within the borders of this jewel on the Mediterranean, though deeply grievous, increases his gratitude for the privilege and peace he enjoys as a naturalized citizen of the United States of America.
A true Renaissance man, Philippe Medawar possesses a rare combination of gifts being a visionary, artisan and technician. Gravity-defying gem setting styles are one innovation that the U.S. Patent holder is famous for. His fine jewelry store in Grand Rapids, Michigan, houses his jewelry design studio, a state-of-the-art facility. Technical services such as custom jewelry design, fine jewelry repair, antique restoration, gemological services and Swiss Graduate watchmaking for all brands, including Patek Philippe, Rolex, Tag Heuer, Omega, Breitling, Hublot, Vacheron Constantin, etc. are all performed in-house.
Philippe Medawar is proud to be a member of the West Michigan community and is grateful to God, his family, his dedicated staff and loyal clientele, many of whom he now has the privilege of serving successive generations. He is also grateful to his late father, Chakib Medawar, for teaching him to love the Lord Jesus Christ and equipping him with a great family heritage in jewelry and watchmaking.
