This photo (circa 2002-2003) is the perfect start and brings everything full circle.

On the right, you have our founder, Joe Wise.

If you knew him, you loved him. Everyone wanted to spend "time" with him....including his only grandson, David.

The grandson that spent countless hours with his grandfather in the workshop is now the man in the left photo repairing a street clock (in that photo he was a mere 20 years old).

It all started when Joe used to toss young David cuckoo movements and tell him to figure out how to assemble and disassemble to keep him entertained.

Who knew that one day David would take over both his grandfather's role at the clock shop but also his bench. David inherited not only his grandfather's exceptional work ethic but also his love for clocks and his incredible mechanical aptitude.

David is easily one of the youngest professional horologists in the United States.

Joe passed in 2015, however we can say with absolute certainty that he is with us every single day at the shop.

We receive a lot of questions about clock repair.
We have decided we will start a short series, "Time with Joe" answering those questions and providing professional advice.

First up.....

We often receive clocks for repair where the customer has shared that their family member, the neighbor, the guy working out of his spare bedroom, a friend of a friend and so forth tried repairing their clock. In most cases, they report the clock never ended up working properly or ran a very short period of time.

Believe us, it shows. These photos are of some of the many movements that have been in the shop recently. This work is so incredibly disappointing, and frankly appalling. Old wonderful movements, as Joe Wise would say, "just bastard-ized." We can just see him pacing the workshop floor angry over a piece of history unnecessarily ruined.

Before we can even begin legitimate repair work, we have to go back and un-do, correct and repair those "freebie or cheap" repairs by the hobbyist. This just adds to the financial cost of the overall repair work.

If you love your clock....like so many customers do, then allow a qualified professional to repair them. Someone that has the knowledge, experience, skills and expanse tools and supplies to do a quality job.

We often use the analogy, would you or a stranger attempt to perform a filling and root canal on your teeth at home? No. There are trained professionals that provide this service and do it every day. We feel the same about clocks.

If you have the clocks, we have the time.

You are welcome to bring clocks to the shop but we realize that grandfather, grandmother and tall case clocks are nearly impossible for customers to transport.

Or, let us travel to you.
We will provide on the spot estimates in your home, offer repair options, and transport the parts we need back to the clock shop. In roughly, two weeks we will return with your repaired items and reinstall.

We travel to the Indiana line, up into Michigan, over to Cleveland and down to the northern Columbus area on house calls throughout the week, every week.

We provided estimates on the spot. We will pack up what we need, and transport to our shop. In roughly 2-3 weeks all of the work will be completed, returned and customers educated on clock care.
