Weโ€™re absolutely thrilled to be voted as 1st Place in the Pro Category at the Highland Park Lapidary Cabbing Contest! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’Ž
This one means a lot to us. So much time, patience, and attention to detail goes into creating each cabochon, and itโ€™s an incredible honor to have our work recognized among so many talented cabbers.
A huge THANK YOU to Highland Park Lapidary for putting on such a great contest, and congratulations to Keith Dull for 2nd place and John Yugovich for 3rd! ๐Ÿ‘
Weโ€™re proud of this one! โค๏ธ

This year we entered the 2026 Worldwide Rock Tumbling Contest! The contest rock is Jasper from the Dead Camel Mountains of Nevada.

The journey began on April 3 in a rotary tumbler and wrapped up today, August 2, with the final polish in a vibratory tumbler. After four months of patience, the results are in! These photos show the stones dryโ€”with a beautiful gloss and a smooth, slick finish.

Now comes the hard part: choosing our best five to send to California for judging before next week's deadline. Wish us luck!

Some Dead Camel Jasper is making its way through the 1,000-grit pre-polish stage in the vibratory tumbler this week.

Getting to this point takes patience. These stones spent more than four months in the rotary tumbler, where the rough edges and imperfections were slowly worn away. Now they're beginning to reveal their true beauty as they move closer to a final polish.

The transformation is always worth the wait!

Shop update from Shadow Holler!

Today's cabbing machine lineup features Durango Lace Agate hearts and a teardrop alongside a Flower of Peach Lace Agate round cab.

These cabochons are currently in the process of being shaped and refined on the cabbing machine. The rough work is nearly complete, and they're starting to reveal the incredible patterns, colors, and character hidden within the stone.

Favorite part of lapidary work is watching a rough stone slowly reveal its story. Every pass on the wheel uncovers something new.

Follow Shadow Holler to see the finished polished cabs and future cabochon releases!

Was digging through our rocks and found some Durango Amethyst Lace also known as Aztec Lace and Royal Aztec Lace. Cut some nice slabs and working on making some cabochons. Really nice colors and lace patterns. Photo is straight out of the camera with no edits.
