Before diamonds sparkle in jewelry, they exist in a raw, natural form—often rough, irregular and full of personality. While many diamonds grow as classic octahedrons or flat triangular macles, some emerge from the Earth in shapes that look like windows, baguettes, dice, campfires or even gummy bears.
These unusual forms are created deep underground by intense heat and pressure, then shaped further by breakage and resorption as diamonds travel toward the surface. Some diamonds form far deeper than most—up to 500 miles below the Earth’s surface—where their dramatic journey leads to especially irregular shapes. Tiny mineral inclusions inside many of these crystals act like time capsules, preserving clues about Earth’s interior over millions to billions of years.
Together, these natural diamond sculptures offer a rare glimpse into the powerful geologic forces that shape our planet.

Something to think about before purchasing a lab created diamond.

Diamonds represent rare time capsules containing Earth’s history. Their journey also makes them enduring symbols of strength and resilience. Diamonds formed 90 million to 3 billion years ago at a depth of 90 to 400 miles beneath Earth’s surface. Here, the extreme temperature and pressure caused carbon atoms to form incredibly tight bonds. The result was the hardest gemstone on Earth — diamond. Diamonds lay hidden deep within the earth for millions of years before being transported to Earth’s surface by violent volcanic eruptions. Since magma can dissolve diamonds, not every diamond survived this process. The diamonds that did survive were trapped in their host rock, called kimberlite. Over time, erosion freed some of these diamond crystals and carried them downstream to where people found them in alluvial deposits. Often, highly-included diamonds shattered during this tumbling process.
