Creative Jewelers is sharing some information about a unique piece of history, the Twenty-Cent coin. Originally proposed to address a shortage of small change in the Western U.S., the Twenty-Cent piece was only produced for three years (1875-1878) and minted at three locations: Philadelphia, Carson City, and San Francisco. Production was stopped because the coins had a similar design and weight to the Quater. Each Twenty-Cent piece is 90% silver. The Twenty Cent piece pictured in this post is an 1875 from San Francisco, has been evaluated to be in Fine condition and is valued at $175.00.
