I hand made this chain mail shirt a couple of years ago. All the rings I made from wire, to coil, cut into rings. It took me about a year to assemble this piece, which makes it so hard to part with; however, it is for a very good cause that I am.
My brother recently was hospitalized with early stage 5 kidney failure, and put on the transplant list. He's doing much better but with dialysis 3 times a week, several hours each session, he can't hold a full time job. He doesn't qualify for unemployment because even if he found full time employment he could not accept it due to the limitation put on him by his treatment. He went to the county to see if there was any help he could get so he could keep his apartment, but basically he would have to be destitute before he could receive any help. Which brings me back to the item for sale.
This shirt, which is not intended for combat purposes, is very sturdy. The rings are 16 gauge stainless steel, formed into 1/4" rings. It will not rust. The shoulders are made of anodized aluminum scales assembled to resemble dragon scales. The whole thing weighs about 23 lbs, and wears like a heavy blanket. I modeled it after a 2x t-shirt, but due to the nature of the material, it may go a size bigger, but don't quote me on that.
This shirt was a labor of love for almost a year, and I wish to continue that love by selling it for a couple months rent and bills so my brother has a chance to get back on his feet. He is undergoing training to be able to do dialysis at home so he can. Sometimes all we need is just a little help.
