I just wanted to know if anyone can tell me the difference between an NGC/PCGS graded coin in any grade when the grade is almost NEVER the same for a coin?
Both companies can NOT grade 2 of the same identical coins on the same day at the same grade, even if they are 100% exactly alike. It all comes down to OPINION and they are never the same. When you send a coin in to be graded, you expect a FAIR grade and NOT a grade based on the fact the guy is having a really bad day for some reason and is NOT up to work that day.
I have seen coins submitted more then once to the same company and comes back with 3 different grades each time. So, my question is this, What is the point of grading? If they were to just keep to authenticating and ensuring that the coin has not been altered/tooled/toned ect, then it would have something.
Back in the day even young collectors could tell you what an uncirculated coin was, now we have to send them in to a third party to officially say yup its UNC, then send it in to another to tell us that yup NGC/PCGS graded it correctly....ie..CAC, Wings ect..
What a crock of BS. They should get out of grading and let the collector's grade the coin like we used to. A third party need only be used if there is to be a sale/buy and there is a disagreement on the grade, VF,XF,unc,Proof...ect..
Thank you for reading this. I just needed to vent my frustrations about NGC and PCGS..
