Why this emblem is so special to me:
About 22 years ago I asked my husband what he thought about me starting my own jewelry business.
I was a stay at home mom, and wanted to do something for a little play money, but really didn't want to be tied down to part time retail hours.
So, because I had already worked 13 years with jewelry, I bought a card table and about $300 worth of jewelry and another $100 in boxes, gift bags, and displays. I set my jewelry table up at a school craft fair and sold almost everything that I had
So, I decided this felt right for me Because my name is Grace, I decided on the name of Gifts of Grace. But because that name was already taken by another organization (not jewelry), I added Home Jewelry Shows
My husband decided to draw out a couple of ideas for an emblem. We decided on this one because it is actually 2 'G's" that form a cross inside a heart.
I can remember him sitting at our computer and clicking the tab to spray each dot one at a time, to form this emblem.
It was so sweet of him to do that for me. I know I can have some high tech computer programs do something pretty fancy today, but then I wouldn't remember how much time he put into this for me.
I did home parties and craft fairs and kept adding to my jewelry inventory until my kids graduated highschool and went off to college.
It got to be really time consuming to pack everything up to go to a show, so I decided to open a jewelry store in Alton. I had it for 5 years until both of my kids were expecting babies within the same year.
I loved my Shoppe, but I am a real family kind of girl and couldn't imagine sitting in a store alone when I could be home playing with babies!
So now I am Grammy Grace and back to doing craft fairs. I am also considering doing home parties again. I'm not too sure how it would go because ever since COVID people don't really like having other people in their homes anymore.
