💎 FUN FACT FRIDAY: GEMOLOGY EDITION 💎

A diamond is a 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, and sapphire is a 9. That sounds like they are almost equally hard, right?

Not quite.
The Mohs scale is not evenly spaced. Diamond is significantly harder than sapphire, and both can scratch many of the materials we encounter every day.

But “hard” does not mean indestructible. Hardness measures resistance to scratching. A diamond can still chip if it is struck in the wrong place.

That is why we look at more than the gemstone when recommending jewelry for everyday wear. The setting, exposed edges, your job, and how you wear your jewelry all matter.

Some rings mark a moment. This one honors 44 years of them. ❤️

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

We are so thankful to this wonderful out-of-town couple who found Jennifer and trusted Wright’s Jewelry to help create a very special tribute to their 44 years of marriage.

The idea began with her original engagement ring and a vision for a new three-stone design. Together, Jennifer and the couple selected a new center diamond and an additional side diamond to pair with her original stone, bringing the past and present together in one ring.

She knew she wanted the ring to sit low on the finger, with a bezel-set center diamond and a twisted shank inspired by the infinity symbol, but she wanted something a little different. Something that felt uniquely theirs.

And that is where the design began to take shape.

But after Jennifer learned they were celebrating their 44th wedding anniversary with this purchase, she wanted to add one detail they hadn't even asked for.

44 accent diamonds.

Jennifer thoughtfully worked the design so that exactly 44 accent diamonds would be incorporated into the ring, one for every year of their marriage.

The original engagement ring.
