I finally remembered to take a photo of the "before" before I took it apart!

The first photo is the "before." A vintage necklace made of Mexican onyx and Mother of Pearl beads. Some beads were cracked, and one had dried glue on it, possibly from a pendant.

The second photo is the "after." I omited the oversized beads and added matte hematite beads for a more uniform look. All other beads are from the original necklace.

A necklace redesign.

1. Chunky smoky quartz beads were replaced with white freshwater pearls.
2. Tarnished, silver plated metal daisy spacer beads were replaced with silver Czech glass beads that will never tarnish.

The labradorite beads have quite a beautiful flash and can now stand out next to the pearls.

I spent a number of days practicing knotting with 14mm faux pearls and thick silk cord. I think I held my breath as I tightened each knot!

I am satisfied with how the knots turned out but really messed up the end with the clasp. Extra large crimp bead covers work well for covering up messy knots!

This practice necklace is NOT for sale. And it may be a while before I add knotted jewelry designs to my collection!

One of the classes I attended at was Beaded Embroidery on Knits. I have shyed away from trying bead woven jewelry, but this course gave me the confidence to give it a try. The instructor showed how one rose can have endless possibilities. The first photo was what I completed in class.
