So I'd like to tell the tale of the giraffe that almost wasn't. This giraffe is a piece that was commissioned for a friend from the uu church near me here in Erie and I am very grateful that she was so specific about the style that she wanted. So I went looking for the item and purchased the pattern. I had made all of the pieces except for figuring out how to join the neck with the body because the body was being worked in the round in such a way that the neck hole was pointing forward like a dog. And I don't know if anybody has seen a giraffe, but their neck hole does not exactly belong on the front like a dog. So anyway, after going and looking at the pattern, I realized that the picture was AI and that the pattern had been generated from the picture to try and approximate. The pattern had some good things. The feet and the head and the ears all turned out fantastic. The giraffe horns that they had pattern for did not look right, so I ended up freehanding those. And then because of how they had done the body, I also ended up freehanding the body. Meaning that I completely designed how that body would fit around the legs and join up with the neck and head. He turned out really well but I will not be purchasing from that Etsy shop (SweetLoopCreations) again.
