I thought I was finally just cleaning out my closet.
After years of hanging onto pieces I no longer wore, I ended up with eight contractor bags full of clothes and shoes.
At first, I was going to donate everything, but so many of these pieces had been loved, and I wanted them to go directly to people who would love them too.
So I joined my local Buy Nothing Facebook group and made one simple post. Less than 24 hours later, seven women were coming to my garage to "shop" completely free.
As they looked through everything, they started sharing their stories. One had recently lost weight and needed clothes that fit. Another had just started a new job and needed office clothes. And one was collecting for a friend whose home had burned down just 2 days before.
The wildest part? She happened to wear my exact clothing AND shoe size.
8 contractor bags quickly became 3, and I was able to donate them to a local thrift shop.
What started as cleaning out a closet turned into something so much bigger.
It reminded me how powerful community can be, how good it feels to give without expecting anything back, and how much we all need each other right now.
If you've been holding onto things you no longer need, maybe this is your sign. Someone out there might be waiting for exactly what you have to give. π
You never know whose life you might brighten and I have a feeling it'll brighten yours too.
Have you ever done something like this? I'd love to hear your story. β€οΈ
