For anyone wondering how my other project is going, we're about to find out. 🤣
Something new — with some very old roots — is growing here on the farm.
I’m excited to finally introduce Butterburr, our little self-serve farm stand here in Boston, NY.
We officially open this Saturday, August 22!
Butterburr brings together a lot of things that have been part of our lives for a long time: eggs from our chickens, honey from the hives here on the farm, Kist Maple Syrup that has been produced on this land for more than 25 years, whatever extras the garden happens to give us — and, of course, baking.
Some of you may remember Sweet Traditions, the baking business my mother and I had more than twenty years ago. If you do, you may recognize a few things as Butterburr gets going. Some of my family recipes go back considerably farther than Sweet Traditions, and I’m very happy to have a reason to bring some of them back out again.
I’ll also be baking plenty of newer things, often using the honey, maple and seasonal ingredients we produce right here on the farm.
Beginning Saturday, the stand will be self-serve and open daily from 8 AM–8 PM. Fresh baking will be added in small batches throughout the week, and I’ll post here to let you know what’s coming out of the kitchen and when it will be available.
You can also visit our new website at butterburr.com to learn a little more about the farm and the story behind Butterburr, find directions to the stand, and sign up for our weekly email so you’ll know what’s fresh each week.
This is very much a “start small and see where it grows” kind of venture. I’m looking forward to finding out what our neighbors enjoy, what the garden decides to cooperate with, and what Butterburr becomes along the way.
