The days can be long. Complete exhaustion. And sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate. Nothing like unpacking or packing up in the rain. 😩

But somehow in-person art shows and markets are where the work comes alive. Moments like these. Seeing someone connect with a piece. The conversations, energy, and stories are all meaningful.

Selling to stores is great and will always be a part of my business strategy. But art shows still have a place in my ā¤ļø. I’m coming for you . So excited to be there!

I have quite a few (read: A LOT of) faceted stones that I’ve collected over the years (some pictured in the 3rd photo). I recently decided that I want to finally set some of the round stones in thicker bezels.

Enter this Round Bezel Forming Block from . This is also known as a collet block, because the tool aids in forming a collet: a sleeve or band of metal to hold the stone. I’ve started the process for one of my stones (as shown in the 2nd photo). This will take a bit of trial and error; I split my first one because I hammered too forcefully. 😩 Anyway, something new as I’m trying to revisit materials and objects that hold space in my memory and studio.

What’s your favorite tool or gemstone setting?

During the Covid years, I made a few connections online, from our shared love of reality TV. (I mean who didn’t consume copious amounts of TV during that time? Tiger King, anyone?!)

FF to now and these have become IRL friends who still support me in so many ways. It’s always a moment when someone shares this side of it, showing the piece, the packaging, the intention behind both. CM, I’m so grateful this necklace made its way to you and that you love it. Thanks for your kind words and noticing that I’m working hard on my packaging, lol!

How about y’all…are you like me and is your favorite part too?

Custom order that completed awhile ago for a client who had also worked as a jeweler in her past life (she made her own sketch and knew exactly what she wanted!) She had this blue topaz that she reimagined being in a setting that felt more like her style, rather than the original prong setting. I hope to incorporate more and more custom work as time allows. And this stone color, a favorite. šŸ˜ā¤ļø What’s your favorite stone?

On the heels of the "Love Durham" campaign, I was thinking about what Love means. It's easy for me to show love as an outward practice but I have often found it difficult to channel that love inward. These "Love You" hoops were created as a part of my Hoop Dreams exhibit, a quiet prompt and gentle reminder to myself and anyone else who needs to hear it. It doesn't always come easily but I hope that you too always remember to show as much love to yourself as you do to others. And who knows, I have lots more notes to myself, lol, so these may be the start of a small Adorned with Words collection? What are some words that keep you?

Can we talk about where we find inspiration? Inspiration doesn’t always come from something new. Sometimes it’s from a color you love or something you’ve seen dozens of times. This pair in my Hoop Dreams exhibit started with this painting by a fellow Golden Belt artist, Tim Thayer, and I see it daily at the studio. The color and shape and composition. šŸ˜ I wasn’t trying to recreate it; just translate the feeling into a wearable form. These are some of my favorite new . Enameled on both sides and finished with sterling silver earwires. DM for purchase; exhibit closes on April 8th.
