(AWCo) offers innovative thermally modified timber for a variety of outdoor and indoor applications from housing installations to decorative fixtures and product components. AWCo Thermally Modified Timber (TMT) joins together sustainably harvested wood, and a value added heat modification process, to bring finished TMT goo

ds to a variety of markets and uses. Thermal Modification is a process that replaces the use of chemicals to enhance an inapt wood species performance with heat and steam so it is suitable for a multitude of applications indoors and out. The high heat modifies the cell structure of the wood and makes it highly resistant to rot while greatly reducing expansion and contraction. Through multiple cook temperatures a range of color options within a single species can be achieved without the use of stains. Aesthetically the wood is darkened in color and it brings an unexpected tropical look to more commonly lighter indigenous wood species. Since Thermally Modified wood does not absorb or hold moisture as it would prior to treatment, species that typically do not perform well in outdoor or wet environments can now be used as decking or siding.

Much more than a garage - When a family in Shannon, IL was in need of additional space for their vehicle and woodworking shop they prioritized sustainable and durable materials to create a garage space that was equally functional and beautiful.

Premium thermally modified ash cladding and dimensional screening pair with more common plywood panels and aluminum details to create a robust and interesting façade. Inside the garage has a full woodworking shop with space for a car and other recreational items. The space will serve as a common space for craft and connection for years to come.
