Here is a close up shot of the Cast Iron and Brass bed. The old paint and rust were sandblasted off of the cast iron bed frame, and then the cast iron was just protected with several coats of a clear satin lacquer. You need to do something or that old iron will rust in an hour. You even get finger prints in as little as 5 minutes. Especially in this humid mess. Then we reinstalled the brass decoration on the head and the foot. The client did not want the brass polished. she wanted it to look some what old. Just not old and rusty. She also wanted it to be one color, not 4 or 5. Look at the detail in the cast iron, some one needs to put details like this on things that are made today.
