In the words of Jesus, “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but loses his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Mark 8:36
We have seen many people rise to fame overnight, who reportedly sold their souls to the devil. That may sound ridiculous to some of you, but it is a very common practice in the world of darkness. From my understanding, there are sacrifices and rituals that I won’t focus on. Next thing, you know, the artist becomes famous, and ridiculously rich. The values they had before have vanished, and evil is their mojo. It is truly sad to watch a beautiful, promising young artist give themselves over to the spirits of darkness in exchange for fame. Maybe you don’t believe me. Maybe you think I’m just a crazy Christian. But Jesus asked the question, what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his soul?
The truth is this: the Father sacrificed his very own son, Jesus, shedding his blood, to redeem us from evil. We were all destined for destruction under the curse of the law, but the sacrifice of Jesus, who is perfect in every way, was the price it took to redeem all of us from the curse of evil. Those who have surrendered to his love get to experience freedom from all the besetting sins, from all addiction, no matter how entrenched it is. The blood of Jesus is enough. If you are still struggling with sin, then consider yourself dead to sin, but alive to Christ, because you died with Christ in baptism. And so now, according to Galatians 2:20, you are crucified with Christ. Read it. It says “I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless I live. Yet not I, but Christ lives in me, and the life that I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.
We don’t value what Jesus did on the cross. What do you value more than your very soul? What is more important to you? Your life shows it. The sadness in your eyes reveals it. He loves you so much. The Father loves you so much that he sent his very own son to be the sacrifice for your sins, so you can have eternal life. This blood, this love is for you.
I encourage you to focus your eyes solely on Jesus. Read only his words. Daily Commune with Him by taking the sacraments of his body and blood, thanking him for everything that sacrifice accomplished. There is nothing, no nothing, more powerful than the precious blood of Jesus. And He says you are so worth it!! He was thinking of you, and He is Loving you now with a perfect, undeniable and undying love. Receive His Love in every crevice of your soul. His Love will heal every wound. His Spirit will reveal any lie you have believed that has kept you from experiencing the abundant life that Jesus died to give you.
