Moth Children is a small standalone game system where you play as beings inhabited by fey moths, which entered your mouth some time ago and now live in your heart. The moth is a separate entity unto itself, but it only makes one thing known to you:
It desires companionship.
Well, that and blood.
Feed on mortals, compel them to do your bidding, and set up schemes against other vampires to get them under your thumb. If you can hold one down long enough, you can cut open their chest and claim their moth for yourself. Doing so comes with some big benefits.
One, you gain new powers (or augment your powers!) when you take on a new moth different than the kind you started with. Two, you extend your lifespan. That's right, vampires of this world are not ageless, they will die if they do not collect more moths.
The hard part: taking the core moth of another vampire kills them. This is a game with the highest stakes.
Conversely, every 50 years your moth grants you a childer moth, one that you can offer to another vampire in exchange for favors, their childer moths, or that you can offer a mortal to make them your sired vampire.
The system functions on a wheel of skills. There are no dice necessary, though they do help keep track of plot points. When you want to act, you compare your skill to the story leader's difficulty wheel. You can spend plot points to lower the difficulty for a skill on the wheel, or to set up something you prepared before the current event, ala Honey Heist.
The game is available for playtest on the Kickstarter in a simple word doc, so give it a try if you're curious!
