When you have the time, please join us in congratulating Alyssa on her graduation from Regis University with a B.S. in Healthcare Administration. In order to earn her college degree, Alyssa balanced single parenthood, her full-time paralegal position and online classwork, including an internship. She devoted many evenings after work and a significant portion of each weekend to her studies.

While this endeavor was often very challenging and exhausting, Alyssa is not finished with her schooling. She is currently studying for the LSAT and is planning on attending law school within the next several years.

Alyssa offers the following words of wisdom to anyone who is seeking to return to college as a nontraditional student: "While working full time and juggling kids and school is difficult, it is still doable and well worth the effort. My biggest piece of advice to others in a similar position is to learn how to efficiently manage your time and to believe in yourself."

All of us support Alyssa's ambitions and dreams and will continue to work alongside her to enable her to reach her goals.

Linda and the firm have recently been honored by her appointment to the Colorado Bar Association's prestigious Ethics Committee. She joins David, who has been serving on the committee for 14 years. The group is comprised of judges and attorneys from many different sectors of the legal community. It is highly unusual not only for two attorneys from a small firm to be selected for this honor, but also for a seasoned but younger lawyer to be accorded membership.

Lawyers are rigorously screened via a highly competitive process in order to earn a seat on the Colorado Ethics Committee. Unlike most organizations, committee members are appointed for their lifetime. Years of legal experience and wisdom are often required in the committee's decision-making process. As a result, members highly value their appointments and remain actively involved for many years. There are currently committee members who have been continuously and actively devoting their time for 35-40 years.

Please congratulate Linda on this significant career achievement.

Hyoeun Park, who has just finished her first year of law school at New England College of Law, will be joining us for 7 weeks as a law clerk this summer. At age 14, Hyoeun flew by herself to the United States to live with her grandparents in Colorado Springs. She knew no English, and neither did they. Due to a visa issue, she was not permitted to attend school during her first year in Colorado. Knowing that she needed to find resources on her own to learn English, Hyoeun began watching Disney movies and other television shows in order to learn the language. At the end of her first year here, she was able to understand 100% of what was said to her. By the end of the 2nd year, Hyoeun was able to speak conversational English. After high school, she attended the University of Colorado in Boulder. She worked for several years after college to raise funds to help finance her law degree.

Today, you would never guess that she struggled to master English, as she is completely fluent. Please welcome her to Littman Family Law and Mediation Services when she begins her clerkship on Monday, June 6th.

We are pleased to announce that David will be receiving the prestigious annual President's Award from the Metro Denver Interdisciplinary Committee during the MDIC meeting at noon on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. This honor recognizes an attorney or mental professional who practices in the area of Family Law and who is regarded as a role model. The recipients of this award have worked tirelessly to improve the practice of Family Law and to improve outcomes for children and their families. For many years, David has advocated for a collaborative and supportive approach to working with children and families in the divorce process. He strongly believes that if possible, family matters should be resolved outside of a courtroom battle. To sign up for this virtual event, please log in to MetroDenverIDC.com.

Dogs are a big part of the firm at Littman Family Law & Mediation Services. Our paralegal, Gerry Hernandez, has been a volunteer for the Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue (“CSDR) for five years and has fostered five dogs over the past two years prior to them being adopted by loving families. She assists with home visits (virtually, during Covid) of potential adoptees and helps raise funds for the annual fundraisers.
