Bella Luna Jewelers was founded as a continuance of the mission and spirit of de Luna Jewelers, which closed in January 2016, marking 48 years of excellent service to the community. Our motto is to provide quality products and services and to inspire confidence while delivering the knowledge and skills necessary to keep clients’ jewelry safe and long lasting. Bella Luna offers fine jewelry collect
ions, professional jewelry and timepiece restoration, custom design, consignment, appraisals, and--in long standing tradition of de Luna--southwest pottery and Oaxacan folk art in the heart of downtown Davis. Bella Luna Jewelers is a professionally trained team with extensive experience of custom jewelry design utilizing traditional wax and cast techniques. Bella Luna’s founder, Stephanie Choi, was formally educated by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Graduate Diamonds and Colored Stones. She also comes from a family of jewelers and watchmakers, and has been involved in all aspects of the industry from a very young age. As part of the de Luna team for many years, she has worked alongside owner Richard Luna in both in-house and on-site appraisals, served as a custom design specialist, trained staff in sales and procedures, and educated new employees in gemology and precious metals.
“Mr. and Mrs. Luna have taught me so much, beyond the knowledge and skills of the industry, beyond the ethics and dedication to service. When people walked into our store, they were not merely looking for a gift--they were looking for an expression of love, gratitude, confidence...they were building a symbol of perseverance, friendship, or accomplishment, and it is important to remember that there is no inherent dollar amount to any of those things. The opportunity to create and restore family heirlooms and to inspire the beginning of every celebration is a very beautiful way to make a real difference in the lives of others. Thus the name Bella Luna, ‘beautiful moon,’ is a tribute to the Lunas as much as it is also a promise to always remember where I come from.”
Honoring de Luna’s long history of remarkable commitment to philanthropy, Bella Luna will actively support and contribute to its local community. Some of these efforts include featuring a special line of nail jewelry designed in collaboration with Project Pink, a non-profit organization dedicated to bring help and hope to people suffering from breast cancer. Proceeds from this project will be made to Project Pink to further their cause. In addition, a portion of proceeds from repairs will go back to local non-profit organizations and schools.
