National Aviation Day is celebrated annually on August 19 in the U.S. but many communities like Fort Rucker celebrate it tomorrow, Saturday, August 15. The day honors the development, history, and achievements of aviation. President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the observance in 1939 to coincide with the birthday of Orville Wright, who, along with his brother Wilbur, is credited with inventing the first successful motor-powered airplane. To celebrate the day, which has had a tremendous impact on the Wiregrass area, we feature our sterling silver Army Aviator wings in regulation size, priced at only $89.
