Whaitere – The Enchanted Stingray is one of the traditional Maori myths or teaching stories of the Maori people. The story tells of a young stingray named Whaitere, whose parents suddenly disappear. With help from the sea maiden, Hinemoana, Whaitere sets out to search for her parents in the underworld.

Whaitere finally finds her parents, but in doing so is given a huge responsibility – to look after the ocean. Whaitere becomes a Guardian and is tasked with teaching others to respect and care for the ocean. With the ongoing destruction today of our seas and the ensuing threats to marine life, Our seas need protection from many things as well, such as contamination, global warming, dumping and the potential extinction of animals. That’s why it’s an important story to share with today’s children.

All that sparkles is this gorgeous Topaz!

The sterling silver, double prong setting accents the simplicity of these perfectly. Sometimes a girl just wants a stunning pair of studs. 💙

Spring is coming, despite the impending doom of winter storm warnings.

So keep looking ahead, plan for the sunshine and bloom where you’re planted. 🌺

This gorgeous ruby reminded me of the vibrant colors of Hibiscus, so I brought it to life among floral counterparts. This charm necklace will catch and reflect the light of Hawaiian Aloha every time you put it on. Pictured next to a US quarter for size reference, not included in purchase. .925 S

The metals market is utterly bonkers right now. If you’re feeling the pinch, imagine what it feels like for jewelers. Back when I began making jewelry, I bought silver at $20/ozt. Seeing it hovering close to $100 is mind bending.

Safe to say, I’ll be refining every last bit of scrap and silver dust I’ve captured over the years. And unfortunately, it also means a shift in my pricing.

However, If you’re a gold client, now would be a good time to consider the sparkle of silver! It’s certainly a bit cheaper. 😉

Moving pieces off the workbench the last few days. The summer has been wildly busy, and I’ve fallen a bit behind. But have no fear; the queue is running the show!

Coming soon, to a mailbox near you. 😁

This project was four years in the making. It wasn’t that it was especially difficult or demanding; it was more about letting the whisper of what wanted to be made, come through me at the moment it was ready. I was blessed to have a client (and dear friend) who understood that process, and granted the time and space needed for it to occur.

The story of how it came to be is a personal one for her; her mother died from leukemia when she was in her 20’s and she had a ring from her personal effects that she wanted to recreate into something special. The ring was already beautiful in its original state, but Sue is a creative and free-spirited soul and wanted something a bit different. So, I removed the main focal stone, a gorgeous velvety amethyst, and designed around it.

The wings are symbolic for many reasons and the back is inscribed with the words that, while un-reversing of a painful experience, hopefully shed the light that soften the edges of a memory. I laid my hands as well as my heart open to receive the joy and spirit necessary to create this for someone as special to me as the years are long.

It is in these individual stories that I find I am truly an artist in the very best sense of the title but more importantly, I hope to be a story teller, and to share the memories of those who can no longer speak for themselves.

Thank you , for allowing me to tell a tale that is so very personal. I love you wildly, forever and always. 💙🌊🪽

Ira Glass once said, "Great stories happen to those who can tell them..."

Every time I pick up my tools, I try to tell a story, whether it's the one that dwells in my heart about my love for all things sea-inspired or the one loaned to me from someone else's journey.

I try exceedingly hard to convey the emotions that are universally felt: abundance, joy, gratitude, longing, freedom, love, and often, a touch of whimsy. Making that come to life from a flat piece of metal can take a heroic effort, and frequently, as is the creative way, it can also be a battle of timing and discipline. The work doesn't come to life without putting in the hours required.

To that end, I encourage you to talk to the artists you meet, ask about the time they put into their work, and know that sharing any of it is a deeply personal experience. 🌺

It’s another busy day in the studio! (And strill trying to squeeze my protein in when I can…)

Trying to get caught up and work through a backlog of work while finishing up a special project that’s taken a few years (!) in development. Can’t wait to share this story, after the recipient receives it. 💙

If you have pieces waiting with me, rest assured I’m getting to each of you with the same care that I take with all my clients. Thank you for your patience; it means a lot while I try to wear the many hats of a military spouse with a relocated husband. 😮‍💨
