John is out checking hives and adding boxes and I’m using naptime today to get ahead on labels! We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at Thursday evening!! I think we say this every year, but we can’t believe it’s market season again! 🐝🍯

Happy Easter from Peddle Hollow Apiary! The weather yesterday kept us from installing bees, so John played four services at church this morning and then ran home to get bees into hives this afternoon. The chaos was worth it for the beautiful sunshine and our littlest beekeeper’s first time “working” bees 🥹 He had so much fun and it was such a blessing to us to watch him experience the bees up-close for the first time ❤️🐝

Bees arrive Saturday! We spent yesterday afternoon working in the bee yards together to scrape propolis and prep hives for the new colonies. We had such a blast together - it’s a joy and a privilege to share this adventure with our children! Thank YOU for your support 🐝💕 the littlest beekeeper has been practicing selling honey all winter and excitedly shouts “THAT’S WHERE NIGHT MARKET IS!” every time we drive into Dubuque ☺️

We ordered bees yesterday and also visited our friends to deliver honey for their delicious drinks! Our baby beekeeper loves a coffee shop so it’s always fun to have a little family date ☺️
We’re looking forward to another great bee season! 🐝 🍯

It’s so special to us to share this tradition with our kids. Today I told Cole that John was outside checking hives and Cole asked if we could go watch, so we did! We took our pb&js along and found a safe spot to observe the action and it was a blast for all of us 🐝

Dear Peddle Hollow fans and friends,
We want to share some hard news with you about our family.
On March 16th our daughter Lucy May was born. Due to a genetic condition we learned about in November, she passed away about an hour after her birth. We have been grieving and learning how to live our life as we miss her. Part of continuing to keep her present in our life has been our work to establish a charity in her honor, the Lucy May Foundation. Our goal is to help families with medical costs associated with the birth and care for infants who die during or shortly after birth.
We will be dedicating profits from our 3 and 5 ounce jars to this cause as a sweet way of involving Lucy May in our family business.

We’ve been quiet this spring (that’s not new 😅) but we’re excited for a new beekeeping season and a new market season!
