Watch of the day! Day 5: For the last day in our week long Hampden Trench Watch adventure, I have my extremely rare 1918, black dial, offset crown example. Rare may be an understatement, since this may be the only black dial, offset crown, WWI military issue Hampden in existence. The offset Hampden cases interestingly don't have a hinged front bezel as all the rest of the weeks examples did. This was because the offset cases were intended to be fitted with stem set movements instead of lever set. This example comes equipped with a very rare 1918 Molly Stark, stem set movement. The original Hampden enamel dial is flawless and stunning with the original cathedral style hands. As always, the old radium lume has been removed and replaced with safe C3 lume on the hands. What a fantastic way to end the week!

Watch of the day! Day 4: I know today's watch may look like yesterday's with a strap change, but I assure you this beauty is unique! Once again we showcase a beautiful Hampden military issued trench watch from WWI, powered by a high grade 15 jewel, lever set Diadem movement from 1908. Here is a fun one, what else was going on in 1908? Ernest Shackleton sets sail for Antarctic on the Ni**od Expedition, Henri Farmon makes the first flight with a passenger, and Henry Ford launches the Ford Model T!

Watch of the day! Day 3: Today we have featured this beautiful Hampden Trench watch powered by a 1911 Molly Stark movement. This example looks very similar to Mondays Hampden with the exception of the slightly smaller dial and khaki NATO strap. These military issued Hampden watches were really built tough! The crown on this Hampden is so fresh and unused, it still has a sharp edge at the end of the knurling!

Watch of the day! Day 2 of our week long Hampden Trench Watch extravaganza, we have featured a lovely 1910 metal dial example. This Hampden features an original military, shadow box, metal dial with original hands that have been re lumed with safe, bright, C3 based lume that has been given a vintage tint. The movement is a gorgeous Diadem lever set movement with 15 jewels, certainly a higher end movement for 1910. Paired with a black NATO style band, it looks brand new!

Watch of the day! This week I will be featuring a different and rare Hampden trench watch every day. These Hampden cases were specifically made for military use during WWI and were manufactured to house lever set (or very rarely stem set) Hampden movements. As you can see, this particular example has a hinged front bezel indicating that it hides the lever setting mechanism below. Since the bezel needed to be hinged away in order to allow you to set the time, these watches provided another layer of protection from accidentally changing the time. This example is powered by a 1906 Molly Stark 3/0 sized movement and is complimented by a gorgeous enamel military shadow box dial. Stay tuned for tomorrow's Hampden!

Watch of the day! 1918 Elgin Military Wrist Watch. Today I have my "plain dial" elgin trench watch in a Wadsworth solid lug case. These Elgin watches were advertised heavily in 1918 as being rugged enough for military use and therefore well suited for hard outdoor activities. You could buy this plain dial version for just under $20 in 1918, which works out to around $415 in today's money.

Watch of the day! 1918 Elgin Black Star Trench Watch. I've always been super fascinated by these black star dials by Elgin. They were one of the few WW1 military dials bought by the United States for use in semi hermetic watch cases and issued to soldiers for use in the war. The dial features an eagle over the USA shield and 48 little stars around the dial representing the amount of states in the union in 1918. Love the look and history of this piece!
