He has learned the very skilled art of "flintknapping". A craft that our early ancestors used to survive for thousands of years.

Tax lady just informed me that I purchased $927 worth or rocks and materials for the business in 2024. Now she wants me to come up with inventory numbers from the end of 2024 to complete my extended return. Ummmm...How do I inventory fu**in rocks bro?

Especially since not all were purchased...a lot of this was collected by me in creeks too.

This is gonna get interesting. Also how does the IRS know what rock is valued at. Some of this stuff appriciates in value 5+% or more every year depending on what it is.

Honestly, my rocks are like a 401K for rednecks.

Some of these things have almost doubled in price since i've bought them in the last 9 years.

Its a shame this particular piece of Harvester Chert did not make it through the processing down...and heat treat with many usable pieces. I mostly ended up with some of the prettiest Missouri gravel Ive ever collected/made. It looks like Painted Buffalo River chert almost. The banding and color is eye-popping to say the least. Oh well...I think I can get some little bird points outta these pieces maybe.

Pulled some Missouri Burlington Chert out of the roaster today. This is a bit lower grade material than the really good stuff and a bit grainy looking. It flakes great though, and the color change is phenominal. This was all a dull bluish-grey and cream colored before heat treating. Here are two of the smaller spalls that had some pretty color change. Next batch is ready to go in...I just gotta go get it out of the creeks first. 😆 I think I will wait for it not to be 100 degrees out for that.

Here is a Fulton Turkeytail point I recently made from some Tripleflow Obsidian. Made with indirect percussion and pressure.

Well...damn. I cant tell you how many of my fellow knappers work over rubber horse mats for this very reason. I think I'm off to the Farm and Home store tomorrow...lol. I had literally just finished this before I decided to wreck it out on the driveway.😒 Concrete vs Obsidian. Concrete wins that battle every time.

I did the stuff.

Here is a pretty dovetail style point that was knapped from some agatized coral from the Million Souls Mine in Pasco County Florida. This material never ceases to amaze me with it's beatufial assortment of pastel colors. Truely stunning stone!

I made this corner notch point while I was at the Evergreen lake knap-in. It was made from a slab of Buffalo River chert. I really love this material and will be trying to find more soon. It pressure flaked like a dream!
