Good morning!
We will be running a little late this morning as we have a time sensitive errand to get done before we can open the shop! So we’ll be opening around 11 today!
Providing we can get the rockhound off of the couch….

Sooooo, after being at the sunstone pit for a bit we’ve finally been able to look over the numbers and such….
On day one we had someone come within 3 stones…. So Greg Klosterman, I’ll get to making it! He guessed 815!
The correct amount was 812 and we’re still looking over the shares but it appears it’s between two lady friends of the shop!

We are back from the mining claims where we once again have a new pit going where we found some nice schillers!
However we got called from a docs office saying they have time to see us tomorrow for something so we can keep mining, so we’ll be closed until Saturday!
We look forward to seeing you this weekend!

We’ve been busy grinding down our fingers so we could get these little things back on the shelves…. We were down to about 10.

Some people ask if these Agate guitar pics really work or are they simply something to look at. My father has made these for the last 20+ years and always sold out of them… and yes, they do work. A bit more of an articulate sound but not hard like a nickel or brass pic, so we’ve added them to the list of stuff to keep up with.

That being said, tomorrow, Friday we will be closing early to go hear a master of guitar picking, Robert Cray, and closed Saturday as well.
We will be back at the shop bright and early Sunday!
Also don’t forget our little raffle competition we posted about before, only 8 more days before that ends!

And sorry for the lousy guitar playing! Haven’t played much in the last year or so!

Happy Thursday from the Pier Ave Rock Shop!
Shikla the rockhound went and created a little puzzle for you all by filling up a jar with some Oregon Sunstones in it.
He had this silly idea and since he was holding our sleep hostage last night by telling us of this plan of his we’re going along with it.

We will be giving away a large tumbled Oregon Sunstone necklace set with sterling silver to the person that gets closest to the correct amount of stones in the jar! We will also give one away to the person that shares the post the most as well!
We will figure out the winner August 14, 2026.
So take some guesses and share this far and wide! In the event that two people guess the same number and are correct we will draw from a hat the name.
For those participating that don’t live locally we will send the piece to you, within the USA.
And we’re open now most thursdays-sundays btw!

Anyone else’s dog get spooked by the thunder the last couple of nights? The rock shop dog sure was!
He however insisted that we try to get to some more reasonable summer hours so for the time being we’re open the following days and hours!
Thursday: 10-4
Friday: 10-4
Saturday: 10-5
Sunday: 10-4

We’ve got all kinds of stuff for everyone here at the shop… mantle piece specimens, finished jewelry and the rough rock material for making your own!
Most of our material is from the PNW collected over generations of family being out there getting after it. We do however have some select pieces that are brought in from other parts of the world to give you happiness. But that’s not our speciality.

Oh… and the rock hound would love to be reassured that the big boom booms are over…

Good morning!
Summer is kind of here sooooo we will be adjusting our hours a bit. But for this weekend we will be opening today, Friday from 11-15 or so and Saturday/Sunday our regular hours!

We are also planning a fun giveaway coming up and will post on that later.

Meant to post this earlier this morning but we’ve had a steady stream of people all day…

We have some new Oregon Sunstone items in stock! These beauties come from only a couple small areas here in Oregon and are hand mined by hard digging people brave enough to deal with the extreme heat and extreme cold.

Anyhow, speaking of the Sunstone stuff, we will be closed tomorrow, Sunday the 12th as we need to head back out the our mine for a quick trip. Will be back at it next weekend, or until 5pm today!
