Seen as how it’s been over TWO years since I did one of these, I feel like I should reintroduce myself.
Hi, I’m Jaeda, the owner of Porterfi (por-ter-fee). My store is named after my twins, Porter and Fiona (Fi), who I believe are the best kids in the world. I’m a Virgo, Type-A, first born Xiennial (the micro-generation between Gen-X and Millenials).
I stumbled into the jewelry industry in my mid-20’s, when I was the first person Heather B. Moore hired in her office. I worked many roles with her for eight years, and then spent another two years doing custom work with WANDERLUST JEWELERS before I had my kids.
I was a SAHM for five years and happened upon this office space for rent that I knew was going to be perfect for my little vision.
I still feel like I’m winging it. I still get imposter syndrome (though not NEARLY as bad as I did in the beginning). But over the years I’ve learned that I’m not just selling pretty jewelry, but I’m selling myself. I’ve succumbed to the social media callings of putting my face on screen, and being SUPER honest about all things in life. Once I started doing that, I felt a new me start to bloom. I let go of a lot of worry and comparison. I just started to be more of myself, which felt liberating.
I could talk about the jewelry, but I’ll save that for another post.
