➡️Learn the basics of Japanese sashiko hand stitching and apply it to embellish a tea towel.
Sashiko is a Japanese running stitch traditionally used to mend and strengthen textiles and clothing, as well as creating geometric patterns.
In this hands on workshop, learn the basics of Japanese sashiko stitching and apply it to embellish a tea towel.
➡️You will learn how to work with sashiko needles and thread and sew a running stitch.
Each student will take home a set of sashiko needles, thread, and tea towel.
➡️Sashiko is an excellent way to slow down and stitch with mindfulness. I find the beauty in its imperfection and its simplicity, flexibility and adaptability to many projects.
➡️This workshop is for sewers of all levels, from beginners to experienced.

🪡🧵Hi friends! We are hosting our first ever ticketed event and we want you (yeah YOU!!!) to join us! We couldn’t be more excited to announce our Sashiko Tea Towel Workshop coming to Squasht on Sat, Oct 3 from 11-1!

In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn the basics of Japanese sashiko hand stitching and apply it to embellish a tea towel. You will learn how to work with sashiko needles and thread and sew a running stitch. All materials are included and each student will take home a set of sashiko needles, thread, and tea towel!

Class will be taught by visiting Seattle artist Sherry Koyama! Sherry is the founder/designer of women’s clothing line Harumi K. She has degrees in Psychology and Studio Art from University of California, Davis and a Patternmaking/Fashion Design Certificate from Apparel Arts in San Francisco. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Dress for Success Seattle and is a member of Impact 100 Seattle. We can’t wait to hang out with Sherry while learning Sashiko and we hope you can join us!

Go To Devil is a small, fierce art studio that makes awesome hand-printed tees and tops for women and men.
