THE EMERALD 💚 is associated with those born under the signs of Ta**us (April 21st - May 20th) and Gemini (May 21st - June 20th). The history of the Emerald starts as early as 1300 BC in Egypt, when they have been discovered in artifacts and jewelry dating back to that time. It was a gemstone beloved by the famous Cleopatra, who wore them in many of her royal adornments. Thousands of years later, notable deposits of a bolder green variety were found in South America. They were sacred treasures of the Inca and Aztec and ‘discovered’ in the 16th century by Spanish conquistadors. Emeralds have been now been found around the world, but the larger deposits are in Brazil, Austria and Africa. Even though Emeralds were not ever found in Rome or Greece, the origin of their name comes from Ancient Greek; smaragdos, translating to ‘green gem’. Also, the famous Roman goddess, Venus, the goddess of love is often associated with Emeralds. Which makes sense as to why most of the metaphysical properties of Emerald are associated with the heart.
Did you know that Emeralds are more rare than diamonds? Twenty times scarcer! Did you also know that some of the oldest Emeralds found are close to THREE BILLION years old? That’s hard for me to wrap my brain around! What little treasures that could have lived with the dinosaurs. The Emeralds light green in that lovely light green hue have been found in Brazil, Russia and Africa. The green hue in Emeralds comes from deposits of chromium or vanadium.
Emerald is associated with the heart chakra and is believed to encourage compassion, clear decision making and offering a calming energy. It is believe duo bring balance and fidelity to relationships. It is also believed to be a stone of manifestation specifically for growth and prosperity. Ignite the goddess and empower the queen within!
