Inspired by the dichotomy of life, my style of elegance with an edge connects me to this duality that exists within my life. Being a mother and an artist is a constant balancing act of two things that at times seem extreme opposites, yet at other times appear to be born of the same seed. My inspirations come directly from life experiences, namely family and memories, but they are also derived directly from the material which I am working, the tactility of textures and the awe I have for nature.

Yesterday, I hit a milestone that feels a bit like the metal I work with...tempered, shaped, textured and layered.

I officially stepped into my 50th year. ✨

At the bench, I spend my time trying to uncover the soul of a piece; finding the grit, the beauty, and the character underneath. It turns out, life does the same thing to us. Turning 50 doesn't feel like "getting older" in the way I once thought; it feels like getting better, improving and refining.

There is something so grounding about the deep, steady glow of a garnet against the raw grit of oxidized silver.

The Impressions Garnet Necklace is all about that tension. I’ve set this vibrant red stone within a rectangular frame that bears the heavy, weathered texture of a shell. It’s a piece that feels both ancient and modern, a small but powerful anchor for whatever journey you’re on.

And speaking of journeys, my heart is especially full today. This evening, I will watch my daughter, Macey, cross the stage and graduate from high school!

When you stand on the threshold of something new, there is a specific kind of energy that takes hold.

Lately, life feels like a series of those open doors and opportunities. There is a lot of wonderful change unfolding right now, both at the bench and at home. With my daughter's (she is also our youngest) graduation coming up next week, I’m watching that boldness in real-time. It’s a season of transition, of looking back at the hard work that got us here and looking forward to the wide-open space of what’s next.

In the studio, I’m constantly reminded that the most beautiful forms come from the willingness to take the risk, and to see what happens when you push past the comfortable. As I prepare to celebrate Macey’s milestone next week, I’m leaning into that spirit of growth. 🌿
