Don’t mind me, I’m just over here having a seasonal identity crisis on whether or not I want to do this earthy palette on my bead mat right now or find me some dreamy pastel color like these instead. 😳🤔

I know this isn’t our regularly scheduled beading content. (Ha, schedule? Yeah right, what’s that?!) But this is an important topic for me personally.

May is mental health awareness month. As someone who often struggled with severe depression for many years, I have come to both understand the importance of mental health and value the process of healing.

If there is anything we have learned over the last few years, it’s how critical our mental health is. There is no one more important to take care of than ourselves. Entrepreneurship especially can be a very lonely, confusing, frustrating road.

You don’t have to share your story with me. But I do want you to know that if you are struggling with your mental health and you need someone to talk to, please reach out to me. Let’s discuss options. You are not alone, I promise. I love you so very much. You are valued here. You are wanted here. I am so happy I live in a world where you exist. 💜

I wore blue eye shadow on my first day of sixth grade. Talk about a fun way to permanently mark yourself as “that” girl. 😳🤦🏻‍♀️ I have always been in love with color. And my use of color has always made me stand out. 💁🏻‍♀️ I love that I get to play with so much color now and (hopefully) get to share that love with others. What about you - do you love color or are you more of a neutral fan? 🥰 No wrong answers here! All colors are beautiful.

Swipe to peep the color inspiration behind this pair. 🥰 (Was I supposed to share this as a week and a half ago? Yep. 🤫) This is part of an award-winning photo I took and I have a dear friend who loves this particular bird, so I designed them for her birthday. I love how they turned out. ☺️ Might make some more. 🤔

Yikes! I guess Punxsutawney Phil wasn’t lying about those six more weeks of Winter. 😅🥲 Maybe if we all decide to skip to Spring, Winter will get the hint? 🤔 What’s the temperature been in your neck of the woods this weekend?

I have a confession… 😳🤫

I haven't played with clay since 2021. 🤭 Okay. So yes, 2021 was technically 25 days ago and maybeeee that sounded more dramatic than it needed to! 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's true though. 2021 was an incredibly challenging year. A few of my closest, dearest relationships faced major shifts. There were several situations that left me feeling betrayed and alone. I received a big promotion at work – alone. 👩🏻‍💼 I graduated from a university with honors – alone. 👩🏻‍🎓 I worked tirelessly day in and day out – alone. 👩🏻‍💻 Oh! And let’s not forget the on-going pandemic, political wars, and social injustices. 😵‍💫

I was unhappy. 😞

I was stressed. 🤬

I was overwhelmed. 😰

I was alone. 😓

It all culminated to that awful weekend in December that left me in tears. I was disappointed in my experience. I was disappointed in my sales. And to be completely transparent with you, I was disappointed in myself and how I reacted facing so many things going wrong.

By the end of 2021, I struggled with burn out in every area of my life. I’m sure I’m not the only one. We’ve all faced incredibly challenging circumstances and situations in 2021. And I’m sure through each of them, we all faced feeling alone. 👤

Right now, clay brings me back to that place of loneliness and betrayal. It brings me back to unrelenting, exhaustive hustle, weeks upon months of imposter syndrome and the toxic comparison rut. It brings me back to continually feeling like a disappointment because I couldn’t get my website updated quick enough, I couldn’t post enough, I couldn’t be good enough.

And yes, this too shall pass. 🧘🏻‍♀️ Soon enough I will fall back in love with the endless possibilities clay provides. I will find my stride again.

But for now, I’m enjoying my ‘claycation.’ I’m enjoying finding my soul one 11/0 bead at a time. I am enjoying letting the chips fall as they may.

What are YOU enjoying? 😌

You guys, I can’t lie to you. 😭

Ever since finishing school in December, I have completely crashed. For the first three weeks, I could hardly keep my eyes open. I’ve been exhausted. I’ve been unmotivated. I’ve been uninspired. And that’s in all areas of my life. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m still undoing a lot of the mental stress I didn’t realize I was carrying. I went for a hike the other weekend and had to keep reminding myself, “I don’t have to rush through this. I can take my time. I can explore. I can enjoy this. I don’t have any papers to rush home and write.”

But the good news is the exhaustion is finally leaving. 😌 I’m getting pieces of myself back. Motivation and excitement is returning!

Long story short - sometimes you don’t realize the stress you’re carrying. You need to actively remind yourself it’s okay to slow down. Don’t rush through life. You’re going to miss the moments that make life worth living. 💜

Hello, my name is Katie, and I am so tired of my Instagram feed only showing me Reels or videos. 🙃

Allow me to properly introduce myself (clears throat). 🙋🏻‍♀️ I am a 30-something North Carolinian implant who moved here from Dallas, TX two weeks before the COVID pandemic hit the U.S. I am originally from southern (i.e. humid) Louisiana. My parents are both originally from this region tho, which makes it oddly feel like home. After spending most of my life getting to know my Cajun roots, I’m excited to start exploring and learning about my Native roots in the coming year. 💃🏻

By day, I work as the Associate Director of Credentialing with an amazing healthcare staffing company. Other than Belle Joie, I also own a photography company. 📸 I have primarily focused on nature and wildlife photography 🌄 🦬 but am also interested in street and portrait work and intend on learning more in 2022 as long as it’s safe to do so. I have a passion for business and encouraging women to know they are beautifully and wonderfully created.

2021 was a challenging year of growth and accomplishments. In December, I finally completed my Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a 4.0 GPA. I had to put my focus on my day job and finishing school, which meant my jewelry business had to pause for a beat. Though it was a very difficult decision, I realized I cannot do all of the things all at one time. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I am carrying the many lessons I’ve learned into 2022 and am excited to see where this year will take me! 🎉 I am more hopeful, more optimistic yet realistic, and more open.

So, please follow along for the journey. 😊 Say hello and comment below with your favorite lesson from 2021! I am here to love, celebrate, and encourage you. 💜

Y’all. Y’ALL. Come on! I’ve got my windows up, a sweatshirt on, and these gorgeous pumpkin orange beads consuming all the space in my brain. 😍 There’s just something exciting about the changing seasons. 😊 I’ve got a market this weekend with and and the REAL question is - do I debut this design at the market or save them for my IG crew and the website? 🤔😏
